156 Packs of Marijuana, 9 Guns and Fuel-Theft Hoses Seized at Juchitán ‘Drug Hub’ — 11 Days After Mayor ‘Quetu’s’ Arrest in CJNG-Linked ‘Los Cromos’ Case, No One Detained

By The Narco Blog · October 6, 2026 · Updated October 6, 2026

Mexican soldiers, marines, National Guard troops and Oaxaca state agents raided a house in Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca, on the night of Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, and seized 156 packages of suspected marijuana, nine guns and two hoses allegedly used to steal fuel from pipelines, Oaxaca’s state prosecutor’s office (FGEO) said, as reported by Uno TV, El Universal Oaxaca and El Heraldo de México Oaxaca on Oct. 5. No arrests were reported. The raid came 11 days after Juchitán Mayor Miguel Sánchez Altamirano, “Quetu,” was arrested in a case prosecutors tie to “Los Cromos,” a cell reports link to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

What was seized

According to the FGEO, as reported by Uno TV (Erick Ponce Dimas, Oct. 5), the search warrant was served at a property in the Mártires de 31 de Julio neighborhood. Agents seized 156 packages of suspected marijuana, four of suspected cocaine and three of suspected crystal meth, plus four rifles, five handguns, tactical gear and the two “specialized hoses.” The prosecutor’s office said the house was a reception center for large drug shipments and the “main logistics hub” for retail sales across the municipality. El Universal Oaxaca quoted it calling the raid one of the most significant blows to Juchitán’s street-dealing networks. All of it will undergo lab and ballistics testing; the weights have not been released.

No group named

None of the three outlets reported that officials tied the house to Los Cromos, the CJNG or the mayor’s case. Uno TV quoted the prosecutor’s office as saying only that the operation came from intelligence work against “criminal cells operating in the area.” El Heraldo de México Oaxaca (Roberto Badillo) reported that Gov. Salomón Jara and state Government Secretary Jesús Romero called it “historic” and part of the “Plan Juchitán por la Paz.” On Oct. 5, the paper said, Jara also announced 26 new surveillance cameras in the city.

Where the Quetu case stands

According to El Heraldo de México Oaxaca’s Oct. 6 timeline, Navy and federal forces arrested Sánchez Altamirano on Sept. 23. Oaxaca’s Congress dissolved the town government on Sept. 25. On Sept. 29 a judge ordered him to stand trial for aggravated extortion and crimes against state security, held in El Altiplano prison. Former police commissioner Kenny Segura was ordered to stand trial on Sept. 30. Both are presumed innocent, and neither has been convicted.
