Tijuana Call Centers Accused of Extortion and Kidnapping: El Tiempo Traces Alleged CJNG Link ‘El Mexicano’ Fredy Chacón del Real’s Companies From Baja California to Medellín
Before he was arrested in a luxury Medellín apartment, Fredy Chacón del Real, alias “El Mexicano,” the alleged Colombia coordinator of Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), ran two companies in Tijuana, across from San Diego. According to information held by the FBI and Baja California’s state prosecutor, he allegedly used them to carry out extortion and kidnappings for the cartel, El Tiempo’s investigative unit reported on Sept. 29, 2026.
From Tijuana to Medellín
El Tiempo said Chacón del Real appeared in Tijuana operating Centers Callcast S.A. de C.V. and Fast Hunt Services. After those complaints, it said, migration records show he settled in Colombia in December 2024 with a foreigner’s ID card and set up two similar businesses in Medellín.
According to El Tiempo’s review of business records, he founded Kampaign Kings Colombia SAS on June 4, 2024. Based in Medellín’s Laureles neighborhood, it is registered for call-center work and vehicle rentals. He was its legal representative until April of this year, the paper said. A second business registration in his own name, for the same activities, was opened in February 2025. Gen. Henry Bello, commander of the Valle de Aburrá Metropolitan Police, said Chacón del Real kept using front companies in Tijuana and Medellín to move money through U.S. companies, El Tiempo reported.
Investigators had tracked his movements around the Medellín area, Santa Marta and Nariño, the paper said. Because FARC dissident groups operate in Nariño, investigators are checking whether he did cocaine business with their leaders.
What the company says
Daniel Valencia, the company’s current representative, told El Tiempo that Colombian authorities searched its offices on Sept. 23, 2026, on orders from the Attorney General’s Office. He said the company does not know what the confidential inquiry is about. Valencia said Chacón del Real founded the firm and was its legal representative “until early 2026,” a slightly different date from the April one El Tiempo gives. He said the company ended its remaining business ties with him on Sept. 23. He said the company has not been told of any case involving it.
What happens next
Chacón del Real remains in the custody of Migración Colombia, which will decide whether he is deported to Mexico or whether an extradition to the United States goes forward, El Tiempo said. He has not been convicted of any crime and is presumed innocent.
