Facing Extradition to the U.S.: Mexican Prosecutors Confirm Arrest of Caborca Cartel’s ‘Cara de Cochi’ — 8 Held, Including 3 Colombians Allegedly Tied to ‘Carlitos Rugrats,’ Wanted in San Diego

State of Mexico prosecutors (FGJEM) have confirmed the arrest of Jesús Darío “N,” alias “El Cara de Cochi,” the alleged leader of La Barredora 24/7, a cell N+ and Infobae describe as the armed wing of the Caborca Cartel, and said he is subject to extradition proceedings to the United States, the outlets reported on Oct. 11 and 12, 2026. Infobae identified him as Jesús Darío Murrieta Navarro. Eight people in all were detained Saturday, Oct. 10, in two simultaneous operations in Valle de Bravo and Toluca.

What prosecutors confirmed
According to the FGJEM, as reported by Infobae, Murrieta Navarro has an active arrest warrant in Sonora as well as the U.S. extradition case. Neither outlet said which U.S. court or charges are involved. N+ reported that the Army, the National Guard and the State of Mexico’s security ministry carried out the operations. In the Casas Viejas neighborhood of Valle de Bravo, five people were held: Jesús “N,” 40; Carlos “N,” 27; Paola “N,” 40; Melanie “N,” 19; and Elizabeth “N,” 26. Infobae said officers seized two 7.62×39 mm rifles, four magazines, 120 doses of suspected crystal meth and 43 packets of suspected marijuana there. All detainees are presumed innocent. The FGJEM’s Ministerio Público in Toluca will decide their legal situation.
In our first report, citing Lindero Norte, we said state police arrested him at a house in Avándaro. The official version, as reported by N+ and Infobae, credits the Army and National Guard working with state forces.
The ‘Carlitos Rugrats’ link
In Toluca, three Colombian nationals were arrested, N+ reported, among them Christian “N,” described as a logistics operator for Carlos Alberto Páez Pereda, “Carlitos Rugrats.” The FGJEM says Murrieta Navarro was Páez Pereda’s security chief, according to N+. Infobae places Los Rugrats within Los Mayos, the Sinaloa Cartel faction of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego unsealed an indictment on July 7, 2026, charging Páez Pereda with narcoterrorism and material support to a foreign terrorist organization, among other counts, Infobae reported, citing the Justice Department. He has not been arrested. N+ said he is believed to be hiding in Durango.

Lindero Norte reported that the group led by “Cara de Cochi” controlled trafficking from Altar to Puerto Peñasco, the beach town Americans call Rocky Point. See our Rocky Point safety page for current advisories.
