‘Last Location: Mexico City’: DEA San Diego’s New ‘Mayito Flaco’ Wanted Notice Points to Mexico’s Capital — Then, Infobae Says, It Was Changed Back to ‘Mexico’

By The Narco Blog · October 1, 2026 · Updated October 1, 2026

“Last location: Mexico City.” That is what a new U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration wanted notice for Ismael Zambada Sicairos, “El Mayito Flaco,” said when the DEA’s San Diego Division posted it on Sept. 30, 2026, El Universal and Infobae reported. The earlier notice listed only “Mexico.” The Anaheim-born son of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada is the man the U.S. Treasury called the “undisputed head” of Los Mayos, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, one day earlier.

What the new notice says

The notice carries a new photo and updated physical details: 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 meters) and 180 pounds (81.64 kilograms), born 1982. Zeta Tijuana reported that a June 2023 version listed him at 1.75 meters and about 79 kilograms. He is wanted for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance in the Southern District of California, in San Diego, where he was indicted in 2014. El Universal and La Razón reported that the notice lists a reward of up to $15 million and a DEA tip line, 1-858-298-5670.

Zeta and Publimetro stressed that the location is tracking information, not an arrest. Mexican authorities have not announced any operation against him.

Changed back?

Infobae reported that hours after its story ran, the DEA took down the version naming Mexico City and again listed only “Mexico,” also changing the height and weight. The DEA has not publicly explained either change. The Narco Blog could not load the DEA’s fugitive page to confirm which version is current.

‘We are going after the entire network’

U.S. Ambassador Ronald Johnson said on Sept. 30 that Washington is “going after the entire network” and hitting the cartel “where it hurts most: their money,” El Universal reported. He also promoted rewards of up to $5 million each for “Aquiles,” “La Rana” and “El Ruso,” Los Mayos leaders in Baja California, according to EFE.

Reported Oct. 1, 2026, from the news reports listed above; The Narco Blog did not independently verify the current DEA notice. Zambada Sicairos is charged, not convicted, and is presumed innocent. A “last location” on a wanted notice does not mean he has been found or that an arrest is imminent.
