Police Chief Among 18 Jailed for Trial After Raids on 28 Michoacán Properties Tied to Alleged CJNG Operator ‘El Señor de la T’
A judge in Michoacán has ordered 18 people to stand trial and kept all of them in jail. They were arrested in raids aimed at the network of Manuel Alejandro Rendón Aguilar, alias “El Señor de la T.” Authorities call him a regional operator of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Among the 18 is José Armando H., director of the Angamacutiro Municipal Police, Infobae reported on Sept. 24, 2026.

According to Infobae, state and federal forces carried out the joint operation on Sept. 17 in the municipalities of Angamacutiro and Puruándiro, searching 28 properties. Four municipal police officers were among the 18 people arrested.
Infobae reported that authorities seized 13 firearms, ammunition, drugs, scales, phones and tactical gear, and found eight vehicles listed as stolen.
The judge ordered the 18 to stand trial on small-scale drug dealing charges (narcomenudeo), according to Infobae. The judge also ordered them held in pretrial detention and gave investigators two months to finish. None of the 18 has been convicted.
The alleged boss
Infobae reported that Rendón Aguilar was arrested in Morelia with three alleged collaborators, identified as Daniel “N.,” Luis Fernando “N.,” and Gladis Yareli “N.” Officials put the arrest on Sept. 17, though Infobae noted Mexico’s National Detention Registry lists Sept. 15. The army, navy and federal agencies took part.
According to the report, officers seized a .223-caliber rifle, four magazines, about 100 rounds and 33 packets of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. A judge ruled the four arrests legal and ordered all four held. The charges include drug crimes, possessing stolen property, and carrying a firearm, ammunition and magazines restricted to the armed forces.
According to investigators, Rendón Aguilar operated in Angamacutiro, Penjamillo, Panindícuaro, José Sixto Verduzco and Puruándiro. He is linked to extortion, kidnapping, homicide, disappearances and drug dealing — allegations, not court findings.
A possible link to ‘El Tío Lako’
Israel Vega Rodríguez, acting head of the Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office, said investigators are looking into a possible link between Rendón Aguilar’s cell and one led by Heraclio Guerrero Martínez, alias “El Tío Lako,” whom authorities identify as the CJNG’s plaza boss in the area. “It will be up to our federal authorities to determine this,” Vega Rodríguez said, according to Infobae.
