48 Drones, 6 Land Mines and 29 Homemade Bombs: Troops Seize Drone Arsenal in Rosario and Concordia, South of Mazatlán, Sinaloa — With No Arrests

Mexican troops seized 48 drones, 64 drone batteries and 44 rolls of fiber-optic cable on the highway between El Rosario and Agua Verde, south of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, the federal Security Cabinet said in its report on operations from Oct. 9 to 11, 2026, as published by Milenio and Noroeste on Oct. 12. In nearby Concordia, soldiers and federal SSPC officers found six land mines. Noroeste reported that none of these operations led to arrests.

What the report lists
According to the bulletin as quoted by Milenio, the drone cache also held 200 cartridges, drone accessories, 20 ballistic plates, six tactical vests and 16 tactical uniforms. In the village of Cacalotán, also in Rosario, the Army seized 25 improvised explosive devices and a vehicle with homemade armor. The Concordia haul included four more explosive devices and four ballistic vests, Noroeste reported. In all, that is 29 homemade explosives in the two southern municipalities.
Meganoticias noted that the report did not say when each seizure happened, whether the drones had been adapted to carry explosives, or which group owned the gear.

Culiacán: rifles, bombs and a lab
In Culiacán’s Colonia Popular, soldiers and municipal police seized nine rifles, 22 magazines, 173 cartridges, seven more explosive devices and three vehicles, Milenio’s version of the report says. Federal agents also disabled a clandestine synthetic-drug lab in Culiacán. They destroyed two reactors and seized thousands of liters of chemicals, including about 4,000 liters of benzyl and 2,000 liters of caustic soda, Síntesis reported.
Excélsior said that across 12 states, the weekend operations led to 22 arrests and the seizure of 64 explosive devices and 1,291 kilos of cocaine.
Why it matters
Rosario and Concordia lie along the highway corridor south and east of Mazatlán, a beach city popular with American and Canadian visitors. Earlier this month, The Narco Blog reported the Army’s account of drones it said had dropped explosives in El Verde, Concordia. The Security Cabinet did not link this weekend’s seizures to any cartel faction.
