Kidnapping, Extortion, Cocaine: Judge Sends Alleged Los Chapitos Boss ‘El Peli’ and 3 ‘La Chamaquiza’ Suspects to Trial in Mazatlán, Held at ‘El Castillo’ Prison

By The Narco Blog · October 4, 2026 · Updated October 4, 2026

A federal judge has ordered Jesús Antonio “N,” alias “El Peli” — whom Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) calls the principal operator of Los Chapitos in Mazatlán, Sinaloa — to stand trial on organized crime charges tied to kidnapping, extortion and drug trafficking, along with three alleged members of a Chapitos cell known as “La Chamaquiza,” Excélsior, N+ and Infobae reported on Oct. 4, 2026. All four will be held in pretrial detention at the “El Castillo” prison in Mazatlán.

Who was charged, and with what

According to the FGR’s account, as reported by Excélsior, the judge accepted prosecutors’ evidence and “vinculó a proceso” (ordered to trial) El Peli and Jorge Adrián “N,” Tayna Gisele “N” and Grecia de Jesús “N” on charges of organized crime for the purpose of kidnapping, extortion and crimes against health (drug offenses). Infobae published fuller surnames for the three co-defendants. The judge gave the FGR’s organized crime unit (FEMDO) three months to complete its investigation. None of the four has been convicted; the charges are allegations.

What the FGR says was seized

The suspects were arrested during five raids in Mazatlán carried out by FEMDO with the federal Security Cabinet, the FGR said. Agents seized long and short guns, ammunition, magazines, improvised weapons, plastic bags of white powder with the characteristics of cocaine, a vehicle and two properties. When The Narco Blog first reported El Peli’s capture on Sept. 22, the outlets we cited had not said what, if anything, was seized.

Milenio’s report on the September arrest:

La Chamaquiza and the Mazatlán chain of command

Infobae reported that La Chamaquiza answers to Genaro Aarón Pérez Avendaño, “El Chamaco,” and coordinates cells in Mazatlán, Villa Unión, El Palmito, El Rosario, La Concordia and Escuinapa, reporting in turn to Víctor Manuel Barraza Pablos, “El 40,” whom it described as Los Chapitos’ plaza boss. Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch had said in September that El Peli handled logistics, supplies and drug money for Genaro Aarón “N.” For background on the faction, see our Los Chapitos profile; for travelers, our Mazatlán safety page.
