Assault Rifles Riddle a Rafael Buelna Party Hall and a Rehab Center in Culiacán as Sinaloa’s Weekend Opens With 7 Killed
Gunmen with assault rifles shot up a party hall in Culiacán’s Rafael Buelna neighborhood, a home and a drug rehabilitation center on Saturday morning, Sept. 26, 2026, wounding one man, the Sinaloa weekly Ríodoce reported. By afternoon, El Universal counted seven people killed by gunfire in Culiacán and Mazatlán, two of them women.
Three properties attacked in one morning
According to Ríodoce, the first attack hit a house in Colonia López Mateos, where bullets pierced a gas tank and alarmed neighbors. Almost at the same time, men with assault rifles fired on a party hall in Rafael Buelna. The hall was empty and no one was hurt.
Luz Noticias said the attackers fired at the parking area on 12 de Octubre street, between Canario and Colibrí, then left. Police collected spent casings, including 7.62×39 rounds, the caliber used in AK-type rifles. Luz Noticias said no motive or arrests had been reported.
In the third attack, an armed group burst into the “C.A.R.I.” rehabilitation center in Colonia Revolución, Ríodoce reported. A 42-year-old Chinese man, whom the outlet named as Liam Yan Chin, was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital under guard. Soldiers found dozens of rifle casings.
Seven dead in Culiacán and Mazatlán
El Universal, in a report republished by Vanguardia at 2:07 p.m., counted five homicides in Culiacán. They included Erika Guadalupe “N,” 31, shot at a home entrance on the road to Tepuche, and Jorge Luis “N,” 35, killed inside an apartment in the Infonavit Las Flores complex. Three more men were killed in Urbivilla del Sol. In Mazatlán, a woman identified as Angelina “N” was killed outside her home in Villa Unión, and a motorcyclist was shot dead. Four more men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, the report said.
No outlet has tied Saturday’s attacks to a specific faction. They add to a pattern of attacks on Sinaloa businesses and property that The Narco Blog documented earlier Saturday, after the Tai Pak restaurant shooting that wounded singer Víctor Valverde.
